Yazeed Al Rajhi Gears Up for Jordan Baja with Championship Lead
(Aqaba, Jordan) Fresh off his momentous victory at the 2025 Dakar Rally, Saudi rally icon Yazeed bin Mohammed Al Rajhi is back behind the wheel, set to tackle Jordan Baja, the second round of the FIA World Baja Cup. The event will take place from April 10 to 12, with Aqaba and the surrounding Wadi Rum desert playing host to some of the most demanding off-road terrain in the world.
Al Rajhi arrives in Jordan at the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings with 86 points, following a commanding performance at the season opener in Baja Saudi – Hail, regarded as the spiritual home of rallying in the Kingdom.
The Saudi star will campaign in a Toyota Hilux T1+ prepared by Overdrive Racing, co-driven by veteran German navigator Timo Gottschalk. The team is backed by Jameel Motorsport, the official motorsport division of Abdul Latif Jameel, whose continuous support has fueled Al Rajhi’s ascent on the world stage.
“This rally is special to me. Racing in Jordan always feels unique, and the landscapes are truly spectacular,” said Al Rajhi. “We’ve put in serious work with the team — the pace notes are tight, the setup is optimized, and our strategy is clear. The objective is simple: fight for the win and extend our championship lead.”
Jordan Baja is now in its sixth edition since debuting in 2018 and serves as a key round in the international Baja calendar. This year’s event features a 33-car FIA field, including leading contenders from the T1 and T3 categories.
Based out of the Westin Saraya Aqaba Resort, the event will kick off with a 5.2 km Qualifying Stage (Prologue) at South Beach Aqaba on Thursday, April 10, at 13:50 local time. The results will determine starting positions for the two Special Stages that follow on Friday and Saturday (April 11–12), covering 524.63 competitive kilometers across the rugged landscapes of Wadi Rum.
Co-driver Timo Gottschalk expressed his optimism ahead of the event: “We’ve competed here before, and we know how tricky the terrain can get — especially with the shifting sand and navigation traps,” said Gottschalk. “But our pace is strong, and we have the experience and package to push for victory.”
With two FIA Baja World Cup titles already under his belt, Yazeed Al Rajhi is not only a championship contender but also a symbol of Saudi motorsport’s rise on the international stage.
