Saudi Champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi to Compete in Baja Greece

Argos Orestiko, Greece: Saudi motorsport icon and world champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi, alongside his German co-driver Timo Gottschalk, is set to compete in the 11th edition of Baja Greece. Previously known as the “Greece Off-road Rally,” this event is part of the World Cup Baja for the first time and it is scheduled to take place from May 22 to 25 in Kastoria, northern Greece.

The Baja Greece rally, replacing Baja Italy in this year’s World Cup calendar, will feature challenging mountainous terrain, with competitors reaching heights of up to 1900 meters in the town of Vitsi, navigating winding paths through dense beech forests.

Al-Rajhi, who has previously competed in the Acropolis Rally within the WRC, noted the difference in vehicle specifications and challenges posed by the Greek terrain. He expressed his readiness for the competition, stating, “It is an honor to participate in the first edition of Baja Greece in the World Cup. The Greek terrain’s unique challenges will be an excellent test for our skills in the Toyota Hilux Ultimate.”

The Baja Greece 2024 consists of two stages across three sections, covering a total distance of approximately 817.36 kilometers, with 559.92 kilometers of timed special stages. The competition begins with a 6-kilometer qualifying stage on Thursday.

Al-Rajhi aims to represent Saudi Arabia proudly and thanked his sponsors, Jameel Motorsport, for their support. “We are prepared for the challenge and strive to achieve the best results, elevating Saudi Arabia’s name on this global stage.”
